It has been a phase of change across Mental Health in Development recently with some staff members moving on to new opportunities and others joining us for the next phase of the project.
Miriam Carter-Fraser joins the WISDOM Research Network as Network Manager, bringing over ten years’ experience across teaching, youth programmes and research–practice partnerships.
A qualified primary teacher, she taught in North London and the Falkland Islands before moving into roles focused on curriculum design, school support and research translation. At Oxford Brookes University, Miriam developed resources and programmes for educators and supported large-scale school-based research in collaboration with the Department of Education in Northern Ireland.
She has also led curriculum work on wellbeing, sustainability and global citizenship, and designed film-based empathy education programmes through Empathy Week, including work with schools in Nepal and a University of Cambridge pilot exploring the impact of empathy education. Miriam is particularly interested in youth voice, wellbeing and ensuring research leads to practical improvements for children and young people.
We are very excited to have Miriam’s involvement in building partnerships with schools so that evidence-based research can reach the classroom and support practical improvement in children’s lives and opportunities.
