National Institute for Health and Care Research

How to apply

There a few steps for getting ready to apply to share your research opportunity with network members.

We have a handy flowchart you can download with the process too.

We recommend you familiarise yourself with the information across our network website, in particular our “Guide for Researchers”, which includes some key considerations for research opportunities and guidance co-created with parents and carers with lived experience.

Please note, the network is for advertising opportunities for parents and carers to get involved in, rather than a way to advertise to their children and young people.

Email parentcarerresearchnetwork@psych.ox.ac.uk to discuss your plans and application. We understand there are a lot of questions on the form, and are very happy to help you develop your project to align with the network’s ethos and guidance and fill in the form to demonstrate this.

You will need to apply separately for each project or opportunity you wish to advertise through the network.

If your opportunity moves forward, the answers you give in this form will be used publicly to share the opportunity with members of the network. Please make your answers as accessible and brief as possible for sharing with our wide range of members.

Please share your opportunity with us in Word format where possible, so it is easier for the team to process into newsletter format.

! Please note, for submission in our next newsletter (launching in mid September) we will need to receive your opportunity by noon on Wednesday 20th August for review. ! However, we do accept applications on a rolling basis outside of this timeline.

All data you submit will be collected, stored, and used in line with our Researcher Privacy Notice.

  • Opportunity moves forward: it meets the criteria of the network and will be advertised to network members
  • Opportunity needs development or changes: the network team will provide feedback to develop your project further to align better with the network’s ethos and guidelines. The application can be updated and resubmitted if you would like
  • Opportunity not appropriate for the network: the team will provide feedback on why the project does not meet the network’s ethos and guidelines and is unlikely to, even with further development.

Find out more about what happens next if your application is successful.
