The Mental Health in Development team were thrilled to be a part of the annual NIHR Oxford and Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centres’ Healthcare Research Showcase at Oxford’s Westgate Centre on Thursday May 29 2025.
It was a very busy day with hundreds of half term visitors to the Westgate, including lots of children, young people, and their families. It is always a fun event and a great opportunity to speak directly to the public about the research we are doing.
The aim of the day is to encourage people to get involved in research. For us, we were hoping to reach out to people who might be interested in joining one of our various research networks including AnDY, WISDOM, Supporting Early Minds and our newly launched Parent Carer Research Network.
NIHR BRCs are collaborations between universities and NHS organisations that bring together academics, clinicians, third sector professionals and a variety of other people so that medical and scientific breakthroughs can be translated into potential new treatments, diagnostics and medical technologies that benefit NHS patients.
The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) is the UK’s largest funder of health and care research.
